Dear President

Unlimited Internet - Uganda

H:E Yoweri K. Museveni,

I write to express my deepest appreciation for the transformative development that Uganda has witnessed under your wise leadership since 1986. Your unwavering commitment to nation-building has yielded tangible results, and the progress made is a testament to your vision and dedication.

One of the remarkable achievements during your tenure has been the significant improvement in the country’s infrastructure slowly but steadily. The construction of roads, bridges, and other essential infrastructure has opened up Uganda’s economy and facilitated trade and commerce. This has had a positive impact on the lives of ordinary Ugandans including my old mother deep in Ntungamo, reducing transportation costs and improving access to markets for those Ugandans who have had an opportunity to adopt your theory of not only growing for home consumption but also to income generate

The introduction of Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) has provided a lifeline to millions of Ugandan children, giving them an opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills that will enable them to contribute to the development of their country. The number of those who can read and write has more than doubled in numbers which is a very good indicator of positive steps although these ones also need to be further skilled so as to participate in value addition and make money.

Your government’s focus on agriculture has been instrumental in boosting food production and ensuring food security. The provision of agricultural inputs, such as fertilizers and improved seeds, has empowered farmers to increase their yields, leading to increased incomes and improved livelihoods. These agricultural inputs however need to be made very accessible up to the local villages. The Agriculturae ministry has the capacity to devise means on how this can be achieved but as of now, these farm inputs are a privilege of the few.

There are still challenges that need to be addressed and high on the agenda is youth unemployment. With over 78% of the population under the age of 30, it is imperative to create further more opportunities from the current existing ones for the youth to contribute to the development of Uganda. This can be achieved through further investments in skills development above the current projects of youth skilling, and entrepreneurship empowerment. A young man who is busy all day has no time to listen to imperialist agents.

Patriotism and a continuous involvement of the young people in decision-making processes are also very essential for the continued development of Uganda. Their energy, creativity, and innovative ideas can be harnessed to drive progress at all levels. Creating platforms for dialogue between the youth and policymakers will foster a sense of ownership and encourage the youth to take an active role in nation-building as opposed to being lured into subversive acts, drug abuse.

Lastly, as we look to the future Mr. President, it is vital to build on the successes of the past and address the challenges that lie ahead. By investing in the youth and further fostering a spirit of patriotism, Uganda can achieve even greater heights and become a beacon of prosperity and development in Africa. All these among the many give an explanation to why quite a number of young people including myself have decided to offer ourselves for the available elective positions to further provide an additional voice and energy to your vision for developing this country.

Yours sincerely,

LAUBEN MATSIKO M.
