2026 Updates: Profiling Nafungo Firida, the lady vying for Manafwa District Woman MP seat

Today we bring you the in-depth details about Nafungo Firida, the lady who is set to battles for the Manafwa District Woman MP seat come 2026.

Her team is already on the ground mobilizing for the support ahead of 2026 polls.

Nafungo wants to see change in the leadership of the district and has set her sights on improving education, health, roads and infrastructure in the district.

She wants to promote health service delivery through effective monitoring of the resource allocation and lobbying.

She wants to improve education through bursaries and effective use of government district quota systems.

She also wants to work on access to clean water through borehole repairs and drilling and wants to represent their ideas.

Empower women groups, youths and men with provision of seeds, grants, poultry depending on their demands and improving of sports among others are also on her agenda.

She is currently giving bursaries to those who want to train in vocational skills in the district.

Why Nafungo is hope of the people of Manafwa District

The political state of Manafwa District is wanting basing on the history of the great leaders from the period Manafwa District became independent from Mbale District.

This gave a challenge and pivoted Nafungo to lead Manafwa District from the current status to another through good and reliable leadership for the people of Manafwa district covering the formerly three great sub counties of Butiru, Bugobero and Bwagogo which have been split further to extend services closer to the people.

This can be proven through the diligent service in the sectors and entities she worked with.

“I therefore declare myself as a true and reliable leader of Manafwa for the position of Woman Member of Parliament Manafwa District 2026 – 2031 in the ruling party of NRM (National Resistance Movement) under the theme “ ISUBI IYE BE MANAFWA” the “Hope of the People Of Manafwa’,” Nafungo said.

Who is Nafungo Firida?
Nafungo Frida is an Ethical, Empowered and God-Fearing business woman, professional personnel in information management with vast experience from different fields and skills attained from school.

She is a true resident of Manafwa District born to Mr. Wekesa John Mumia and Alice Wekesa Mumia from Bugobero Health Centre IV in Nambale cell, Bunefule Ward Bugobero Town Council Manafwa district.

Education
She attended Nakhupa Primary School and attained PLE (Primary Leaving Examinations) then Bugobero High School where she attained her UCE (Uganda Certificate of Education) certificate.

She then joined Bubulo Secondary School for her Advanced Level of Education and attained her UACE (Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education) certificate before joining Busoga University for Bachelor in Records and Information Management 2012 – 2015.

Work Experience
She has previously worked with Kissito International Health Care in Bugobero Town Council situated at Bugobero Health Center IV as Assistant Data entry clerk from 2012 -2013.

She worked with New Hope Primary School as a school Bursar in 2014 -2015 while still at Busoga University.

She joined NIRA – National Identification Registration Authority in Iganga in 2014 and letter joined the NIRA branch in Manafwa as a registration assistant in 2017.

Worked with Hope of Joy for Orphans and Needy Care Uganda in Iganga District from 2019 – 2020 as Data Clerk
Raising the Village as a field Assistant based in Kaliro District from 2020 -2022.

She is currently focused in Business as a Businesswoman with her Business Center being in Busoga Region particularly in Iganga District.
