NWSC, Danish embassy sign an MOU

National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) and Danish Embassy in Uganda have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  for the partnership in water extension.

NWSC MD Dr.Eng Silver Mugisha and H.E Mogens Pedersen the Danish Ambassador to Uganda have signed an MOU for the new South and West of Kampala water system along Entebbe Road. The new project estimated to serve over 1 million people will include:

– A water supply system with a total capacity of 135,000million litres per day, construction of trunk systems, reservoirs and system booster stations.

-Improving the current sanitation situation in the South of Kampala by implementing a 400,000litres per day faecal sludge collection and treatment plant in Kajjansi.

-Development of water and sanitation infrastructure in informal settlements located in the South and West of Kampala.

-The project will also serve 200,000 poor people through the NWSC pro-poor initiative.

Speaking at the event, NWSC MD Dr.Eng Silver Mugisha shared the Corporation’s commitment towards water for all and appreciated the support from Ministry of Finance, the Government of Uganda and other development partners towards the Corporation’s safe water for all programme.

The Danish Ambassador to Uganda H.E Mogens Pedersen, shared his governments passion towards safe and clean water for all.

“NWSC is doing a good job and the Government of Denmark has come on board to support efforts to achieve safe water for all,” he added.
