NWSC boosts water monitor department to carry out routine water quality check
National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has boosted its department of water monitoring with experienced staff to ensure that quality standards of water to be used.
National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has a key obligation to monitor all its water production processes up to the final consumer to ensure that the quality of water supplied to its customers conforms to the National standards for drinking water quality.
The corporation has put in place a department that monitors the effluent of all NWSC waste water treatment plants and stabilisation ponds to ensure that they comply with the National discharge standards, hence ensuring environmental protection.
The standards used to assess water quality relate to human health and safety during contact and for drinking purposes.
Additionally, the department links with other stakeholders to spearhead catchment/water source protection in all areas under NWSC jurisdiction. Water quality is at the heart of the water body’s operations.
