The management of Yellow Haven Lodge Bunga Kampala has strongly come out to deny practicing racism at the hangout.
The management said they have been subjected to a serious allegation of racism on social media and they have since denied it saying they have always welcomed guests of all nationalities and all countries without exception.
The management went on to say their policy is that all visitors must make a reservation in advance whether for accommodation, food and drinks or to enjoy their facilities and that this is because they market themselves as a tranquil breakaway for those looking for that special experience they offer. Below is the full statement from Yellow Haven Lodge Bunga;
“To all our friends
Yellow Haven has been subject to a very serious allegation of racism on Facebook and we feel we must respond.
First we have always welcomed guests of all Nationalities and all countries without exception. Our hotel policy is that visitors must make a reservation in advance whether for accommodation, food and drinks or to enjoy our facilities. This is because we market ourselves as a tranquil breakaway for those looking for that special experience we offer.
Yesterday at around 5pm we received a phone call asking for directions from a group who wished to visit. The caller was told that it was not possible to come as we were busy hosting both an international NGO conference and a party of Ugandan guests celebrating a birthday.
An hour later a group of three people arrived, the people we had spoken to in the phone. We again informed them of our policy and reminded them they had been told that on the phone it was not possible to come at this time and politely asked them to leave.
Since the allegations have been posted we have been inundated with hateful phone calls and vile messages.
We have been in business for six years. We the owners have lived in Uganda for over 20 years. We love Uganda and it’s people and the allegations of racism are very hurtful and we are taking them extremely seriously. We have lodged a complaint with Facebook.
We would like to thank those who have messaged us support.
There is too much hate in the world and let love prevail. We will be making no further comment,” Yellow Haven Lodge posted.
