We will engage NRM NEC to have this sad state of affairs dropped – Jeff Rwakanuma

NRM candidate for Vice chairman Western Region Jeff Rwakanuma has said they will engage NRM CEC to have some issues like dropping of genuine candidates dropped. This comes after he was dropped alongside Odrek Rwabwogo in favour of Kyaligonza as the NRM Vice chairman Western Region. Jeff has released a statement as below.

Press Release By Jeff Rwakanuma – NRM Candidate For Vice Chairman Western Region

On 3rd September 2015, having satisfied the NRM electoral commission requirements, I got nominated as a candidate for NRM vice chairman WESTERN REGION. I want to thank the NRM Electoral commission for holding a process we can all be proud of. Even when I paid 2M nomination fees, I did it in a true spirit of statesmanship knowing that the fee would further contribute to strengthening of our Party.

I have since then spent the rest of my days, trying to convince the delegates that I JEFF RWAKANUMA was the best Candidate amongst the rest who included our senior colleagues who we think have served well enough. To date I am still convinced that the Delegates will Vote me overwhelmingly when the delegates conference convenes. However, Today, I received very disturbing News that the NRM NEC decided to throw out some candidates including myself for reasons not known. If this is true it will be a sad spectacle in the Politics of our Party. It will have taken us years back and as a Party we must reconsider the current state of Affairs. [adrotate banner=”3″] We must return to Democratic tendencies and the whole idea of ring-fencing positions is setting a very bad precedence.

We cannot as the biggest Party in this Country allow this idea of Mob Justice when we can actually be democratic like we have exhibited before. Since this whole idea of NEC choosing candidates is still a rumour, we would like to request those authorised to speak for the Party to clear the air and we hope it will stay that; just a Rumour. “The Mission of NRM is to transform Uganda from a poor peasant society into a modern, industrial, united and prosperous society” and we cannot achieve that while we practice pre-historic election maneuvers.

To all our delegates, I am assuring you that I together with other affected Candidates will engage NRM NEC to have this sad state of affairs dropped. We shall come back to give you the results. For now continue mobilising as usual, Our Campaign program stays unchanged and we still look forward to a Landslide Victory when the NRM Delegates Conference Convenes. For God and My Country.
