Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of Uganda’s economy, accounting for nearly 99% of businesses, generating 80% of domestic revenue, and employing over 2.5 million people.
Their transition to high productivity, formalization, and value addition is the critical engine required to achieve the Tenfold Growth Strategy.
Uganda is currently implementing the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP
IV), a five-year blueprint that serves as the foundation for the ambitious Tenfold Growth Strategy.
The strategy aims to rapidly expand the national economy from a GDP of about USD $50 billion to USD $500 billion by 2040.
The government has anchored this strategy around several core pillars: agro-industrialization, tourism, mineral development, and science and technology innovation (ATMS) to accelerate growth.
The summit jointly organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (MTIC), the National Planning Authority (NPA), the Innovation Village Hub, and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN Uganda) aims to have a conversation on how to amplify the key strategies for the benefit of the key players.
According to Commissioner Business Development and Quality Assurance, Patrick Mugisha, the upcoming UG Catalyst Summit and International MSME Day scheduled will take place from 25th – 26th June, 2026 at MoTIV in Bugolobi, Kampala.
