The Rwizi river system that covers approximately 8,200 km is under serious threat and is on the verge of drying up due to degradation.
And this is why is #SaveRiverRwiziMarathon22 has been created to save the situation.
River Rwizi which is a lifeline for more than 5 million people in Southwestern Uganda including over 400,000 people in Mbarara City has experienced severe degradation in the last 10 years.

The river could soon be history if we don’t act fast and restore it’s ecosystem. #SaveRiverRwiziMarathon22
