The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) CEO Ms Juliana Kagwa together with Ministry of Tourism Officials have hailed the tourism activities taking place at Emburara Farm Lodge in Mbarara. Ms Juliana Kagwa alongside Ministry of Tourism Officials today had the pleasure of joining the Miss Tourism Ankole Queens for an authentic Ankole farm walkabout.
“The traditions here, from grooming to milking the cows in the wee hours of the morning, carry generations of knowledge, identity and pride. Culture is at the heart of our tourism offering. Every kingdom …community ….dialect, dance, meal and tradition adds another chapter to the story of the Pearl of Africa. The correlation between preservation of our heritage and a thriving tourism sector has been proven by many a destination. Ms Juliana Kagwa led demonstrating how the Ankole Longhorned cattle are milked as well as participating in other activities like milk preservation, how items used in the day today pastoral lifestyle are cleaned and preserved, the symbolic power of these cows and how we can position them as a unique tourism product.
Positioning and promoting the unique Ankole Longhorned Cattle is one of the agendas by Ministry of Tourism to showcasing the symbolic significance of these prestigious and beautiful cows.
