Supporters of Rwigara angered by Rwanda EC’s decision to disqualify her from Presidential Race

The decision by Rwanda’s Electoral Commission to disqualify Diane Nshimyimana Rwigara from the presidential race has triggered anger among her supporters both in Rwanda and across the globe.

Hundreds of her supporters took to Twitter after EC boss Prof Kalisa Mbanda on Friday told journalists in Kigali that Rwigara and two other aspirants – Gilbert Mwenedata and Fred Sekikubo Barafinda “didn’t fulfill the requirements, especially the signatures.”

Supporters asked why incumbent President Paul Kagame is scared of Diane saying the ‘coward dictator lies are exposed’

“Of the required 600 signatures, Diane Nshimyimana Rwigara submitted only 572 valid signatures,” said the electoral commission chief.

Diane Shima Rwigara has accused the election body of bias saying she admitted 1,105 signatures of the required 600.

“Today I submitted additional NEC requirements including 120 signatures from 11 districts which brings the total number of signatures collected and submitted to 1,105 (almost double the NEC requirement of 600).

I am looking forward to fairly and justly being on the final list of presidential candidates this Friday July 6th 2017,” Diane Rwigara posted before EC’s body decision.
