Kampala: The Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala celebrated its official charter with a grand Charter Night Celebration today at Canary Gardens, Kyanja, marking the formal recognition of the club by Rotary International.

The event brought together Rotarians, community leaders, business professionals, and partners from across the region to celebrate the club’s founding, recognise its founding members, and affirm its commitment to service above self.

“This is a historic moment for our club and our community. Our charter marks the beginning of a shared journey to create lasting change — locally and globally.” said Immaculate Nakyeyune, Charter President of the Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala.

The celebration included a ceremonial handover of the charter certificate by the District Governor Anne Nkutu, pinning of charter members, and an outline of the club’s inaugural projects. The new club aims to mirror Rotary International’s area of focus including fighting diseases (which will be their signature project) education, environmental protection, water and sanitation.

Rotary International, with over 1.4 million members worldwide, is a global network of volunteers who take action to tackle humanitarian challenges and strengthen communities. The chartering of the Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala is part of this broader mission to bring together people of action who share a passion for service.

The Rotary Club of Uptown Kampala was officially chartered in February 2025 and currently has close to 30 charter members. Their mother club is Rotary Club of Kampala South.
