

Pepsi Uganda injects cash in UMEA Solidarity Games
Leading beverages makers Crown Beverages Limited under the Pepsi flagship brand, has offered Shs 5 million sponsorship package for the Uganda Education Association (UMEA) Schools’ Solidarity games 2016.
Pepsi announced the sponsorship during the game’s launch at Kibuli SS recently. The third edition of the games will be played at Masaka SS over the Easter weekend from 24th to 28th March 2016. The package will be in cash, 150 crates of soda, public address system and tents.
Speaking at the handover function at Kibuli SS on Tuesday, Pepsi brand executive Tracy Kakuru said the beverage company is delighted and proud to be associating with the UMEA Games for the second year running.

The chairperson of the UMEA solidarity games sports committee, Hajji Twahil Kiteezala, lauded the sponsors for the offer. “In line with the games’ philosophy of celebrating God’s favour unto humanity, we hope these games help our country realize the sporting dreams that we cherish,” he said. Seventy-five schools have expressed interest to participate in the games.
Twenty-two from Masaka region have already confirmed participation. They include hosts Masaka SS, Mawogola High, Sseke SS, Nakatete SS, Kibenge High, Kikungwe SS, Kadugala SS, BK Memorial, Kibale SS, Bwala SS, Waggwa Memorial, and Masaka Islamic Central.

Kibuli SS is the overall defending champion. Participants in this year’s games will compete in netball, volleyball and football. And for the first time in the history of the games, women football will be played.
