“P.R.O Industries Company has been wrongly and unlawfully dumping waste into indibulungi wetland and this action has caused severe damage to the community water resource, fish, Vegetation and damage of crops worth UGX 400 million”, said Allan Kyobe.

“We have reached out to NEMA Luweero who sent their officer on ground to establish the problem and they realized the dumping of waste and a notice of License revocation is going to be issued if they fail to adhere to environmental protection,” added Allan Kyobe.

NEMA Uganda strictly regulates dumping under the 2020 waste management regulations prohibiting littering, promoting waste hierarchy and Lincesing waste handlers to prevent improper disposal with heavy penalities for violations like illegal dumping that causes environmental harm or Public nuisance.

The NEMA standards also require that all waste must be transported to a waste management facility that is authorized by the environment body to handle hazardous waste.
