NWSC hosts three-day Mutual Reliance Initiative meeting  

National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) hosted a 3 day Mutual Reliance Initiative (MRI) meeting at the International resource center Pacific Hall.

The purpose of the 3 day meeting that happens every six months was to review progress of works, compare notes between development partners and NWSC on the progress of ongoing projects, address challenges and craft ideas to better service delivery in Uganda.

The meeting kicked off with opening remarks from the Deputy Managing Director Technical services who welcomed the donors and thanked them for their unwavering support and commitment.

The Director projects and capital development Eng Paddy Twesigye presented the status of projects and resolutions made from the previous MRI Mission.

Director Engineering services Eng Alex Gisagara further more shared the project of works and firmly assured the donors that the corporation is steadily moving in the right.

Speaking at the meeting, The NWSC MD Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha appreciated the speed and momentum of works. “We must do all these things in the spirit of reciprocity and further more promise to always do our part.” He further more commented on:

-status of Ggaba water treatment plant rehabilitation works.

– His reservations about the Sanitation fund.

– He emphasised the need for value proposition and innovation in all the deliberations.

– Emphasis on consumption rather than unproductive consumptions.

– He appreciated the donors for the support and continuous engagements.

Lead MRI Ms Nadia Baubion thanked the management of NWSC for the effective use of the donor assistance both financially and thru various advisories.

“I’m happy that the various projects under packages 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 are progressing. Ggaba water works is already in board, such progress is commendable. She further thanks KFW for the commendable leadership throughout the previous 6 years. We promise to take on the mantle with amass support,” she promised.
