No gardens means less water usage, no fuel-powered garden maintenance, and more space for natural birdlife and insects to thrive as they should. The trees at the lodge were intentionally left standing – because nature should be worked around, not removed.

With only fourteen luxury cottages, the lodge was designed to leave a lighter footprint on the landscape while still offering an intimate wild safari experience. Pathway lights are kept on timers, harsh fluorescent lighting is avoided, and with raised walkways, wildlife is free to move naturally through the lodge surroundings.

This World Environment Day, Chimpundu Lodge celebrates the beauty of protecting what already exists – and allowing the forest to remain beautifully wild.
