

Notorious Cattle Thieves charged, remanded
Luweero: Chief Magistrates Court in Luweero on Wednesday sent on remand two notorious cattle and goats thieves up to 27th May 2020.
His Worship Luweero Chief Magistrate, Samuel Munobe, remanded prime suspect Kayondo Zavuga and Frank Akandwanaho till May 27th 2020 when they will reappear in court for the mention of their case.
The two were sent to Kitalya Mini Maximum prison in Mityana district.

They were arrested by Police in Nakaseke earlier this week in connection with the unscrupulous theft of 64 goats and 2 cows valued at millions of shillings in Nabisojo, Wakyato, Nakaseke district.
The two with others still on the run in the wee hours of Friday morning, April 24 are suspected to have descended on a farm belonging to Hannington Tayebwa and made off with 64 goals and two cows on boda bodas and Toyota Ipsums.
In an operation mounted by OC operation ASP Mbabazi, Police, on Saturday, April 25, nabbed Zavuga and Akandwanaho and we first held at Nakaseke Central police station, Bulatango before they were paraded in court yesterday.
Frank Akandwanaho was the herdsman at the farm of the stolen animals and Zavuga is a butcher man in Wakyato, Nakaseke district.
Sources further revealed that the two are believed to be linked to a group of a big group of butchers from Luweero and Wobulenzi that have continued to ravage people’s farms and making off with their herds.
Tayebwa, the farm owner, called for thorough investigations for the law to take its course in the matter and have others on the run arrested.
“The culprits must face the law to help save the community that has suffered at their hands for a long time,” he said
He further asserted that he would not listen to any attempts by cronies of those arrested to settle the matter out of court.
The case – under reference number SD10/25/04/2020…S/Cattle – was opened at Nakaseke Central police station and investigations are ongoing to have more culprits apprehended.
