Atiak Sugarcane plantation & Factory praised for following COVID-19 guidelines

The minister of Health Hon. Dr Jane Ruth Aceng has applauded Atiak Sugarcane plantation and factory in Lamwo district for following presidential directives and ministry of guidelines regarding operations of the factory.

The minister while touring the factory yesterday said she is happy to note that they are following H E Kaguta Museveni directives and all workers are housed at a school near the factory as the factory accommodation is completed. This is to ensure that there is no mingling of the communities with their families as the country faces this COVID-19 outbreak.

The project owned by businesswoman Aminah Hersi is intended to empower the people of Acholi sub region and make them sustainable as well as boosting the county’s economy.

“Following guidance from H E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, today, Hon. Sempijja, Hon. Hillary Onek and I visited Atiak sugarcane plantation and factory in Ngomoromo in Lamwo District owned by an investor, Aminah to ascertain whether they are following Ministry of Health- Uganda COVID related SOPs. I am happy to note that they are following H E Kaguta Museveni directives and all workers are housed at a school near the factory as the factory accommodation is completed. This is to ensure that there is no mingling of the communities with their families as the country faces this COVID-19 outbreak.

Aminah’s project is intended to empower the people of Acholi sub region and make them sustainable. Her team will train the people to grow sugarcane, which is important for our country’s economy. I appreciate the people of Lamwo and Acholi to support the farming activity and Ministry of Health is ready to support you to ensure that you remain COVID free,” Hon. Jane Ruth Aceng said.
