NMS Kicks Off Free Yellow Fever Vaccination
National Medical Stores (NMS) has kicked off the free yellow fever vaccination exercise in high gear with over 30,000 people showing up on Day one. The 3 day exercise supported by the Ministry of Health and Mulago Hospital is taking place at the Kololo Independent Grounds during the URA Taxpayers Appreciation event.
“Though the turn up is massive, we are happy that the message was communicated effectively to Ugandans and are more than ready to serve them,” NMS General Manager Moses Kamabare said.
Mulago Hospital has brought a hundred nurses on board to administer the vaccine and they are efficiently managing the crowds. People have come from across the country to receive the jab which goes for upto UGX150,000 in private health facilities. So they would rather endure the sun and the long queues than part with such high medical fees.
Dan Kimosho, NMS Public Relations Officer said that they are seriously considering extending the exercise and taking it to different locations in the country. They are motivated by the turn up and will be more than glad to make it more accessible.
