Do Government officials now view NBS Television as the biggest TV station in Uganda?
Booking an interview with Government officials is no smooth process. The behind-the-scenes work is oftentimes overlooked, but such a hassle. Yet somehow, NBS TV managed exclusive interviews with the President, Speaker, and Chief Justice in under a month!
On April 15th, with Parliament under the spotlight over the UGX 10B they awarded themselves, NBS Television hosted Rebecca Kadaga, the Speaker of the August House, where she used the platform to defend her institution, under the moderation of Simon Kaggwa Njala.
In that interview, Kadaga went all guns blazing against the Executive and Judiciary arms of Government, prompting follow up interviews to a matter that had the country feel was spiraling out of control.
Cue in Mildred Tuhaise and another exclusive interview on May 7th, 2020, this time with Bart Magunda Katureebe, the Chief Justice, was held, in which among other things, he reiterated the standpoint of the Judiciary, explaining among other things that only a sitting President was immune of any legal process, thereby reminding Kadaga that even she was under the rule of law.
The cycle was then completed on Monday, 11th May, when the young and budding journalist, Canary Mugume, took on the mantle of interviewing the H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The interview touched various subjects including the 2021 General Elections and how COVID-19 could affect them, his health, his past management of political opponents, among others.
The interview has left many wowing at the execution exhibited by Mugume, something that further highlights the quality of training/ grooming at the Media Plaza-based media group.

NBS TV will surely look back at this last period of a month as a key point in their growth curve in years to come, a period in which they have built on their Live Coverage reputation and added accurate information with their COVID-19 coverage, technology advancement with their execution of online and remote interviews, as well as that 2-day PSFU e-Conference, not to mention their now-famed levels of creativity as far as entertainment shows have been conducted.
