Ambrose Byona Omunyeeto upbeat and positive ahead of weekend rally


Ambrose Byona aka Omunyeeto looks set for the weekend’s Pearl of Africa Rally V-Power Super Special Stage rally at Busika Rally Grounds on Friday.

During his Mitsubishi Evo 9, unveiling at Panamera bar and Restaurant yesterday, Ambrose looked upbeat and ready for action come Saturday at Kayunga.

“I hope come Saturday evening it will still be looking as elegant as it is looking today,” a fan joked.

He may look diminutive in size but trust me that is that is all that is diminutive about Ambrose Byona aka Omunyeeto.

So all Batooro, Banyoro, Bakiga, Baganda, Banyankore and generally Ugandans out there, Ambrose the Hima Cement sponsored rally driver touted as one of the best youngest drivers is the guy to watch during the upcoming 19th edition of the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Rally 2017.

Ambrose is driving a Mitsubishi Evo 9 and his navigator is Derrick Lubambula. This rally will start on Friday 30th June with the first leg dubbed the V-Power Super Special Stage, an 8km stretch around the Busika rally grounds.

The whole event will have a total of 493.83 Kms of which 203.30 Kms are competitive. Vivo Energy, Hima Cement, Lato Milk, Fero Mobile, Silver Springs Hotel, Fire and Safety Appliances Ltd, ICEA, World Wide Movers, Tramigo Car tracking and Scoul are some of the sponsors for this year with the highest ever entry of rally teams.
