Hon. Mafabi Asha Nabulo officially took the oath of office as the Woman Member of Parliament for Sironko District in a ceremony held at Parliament of Uganda last week on Thursday 14th May 2026. The event marked the formal start of her five-year term, following her landslide victory in the district’s parliamentary elections on January 15th 2026.
This is a dream come true for Hon. Mafabi who has been wishing hard to get the mandate and serve the people of Sironko rightly. She pledged to uphold the Constitution, serve the people of Sironko with integrity, and perform her duties without fear or favor.
Speaking shortly after the ceremony, Hon. Mafabi thanked the people of Sironko District for entrusting her with the mandate. She said the support she received during the campaign reflected a shared desire for improved service delivery, stronger representation, and unity across the district. “This seat belongs to the people of Sironko. I am committed to ensuring that every voice is heard and that development reaches every sub-county,” she stated.
Her priorities, as outlined in her manifesto, include advancing healthcare access, strengthening education, empowering women and youth, and improving agricultural livelihoods. She also emphasized the importance of working collaboratively with local leaders, civil society, and government ministries to address the district’s key challenges.
Residents and local leaders have no doubt about Hon. Mafabi’s capability and capacity to deliver to the expectations of the her people because she has already even demonstrated it without the mandate since 2019 under her Mafabi Asha Foundation (MAF).
Hon. Mafabi’s background in community work positions her to understand the needs on the ground. The swearing-in concluded the electoral process and transitions Hon. Mafabi from MP-elect to a full member of Uganda’s 12th Parliament, where she is expected to participate in legislative debates, committee work, and oversight functions affecting Sironko District and the country at large.
As she begins her term, Hon. Mafabi called on the people of Sironko to remain engaged and hold her accountable, saying that sustainable development requires partnership between leaders and citizens.
