Kampala: VICE President H.E Jessica Alupo has appealed to the Christians to continue working hard to build stable and prosperous families.
“If you have spiritually seen the light, then you must do the same economically. You cannot see the spiritual light yet stay in economic darkness. You must push yourselves a little extra and improve your household incomes,” Alupo said.
She made the remarks while representing President Yoweri Museveni during the opening of the 3rd East Africa Fire and Anointing Conference at Sharing Youth Centre-Nsambya.
The conference was organized by Dr. Michelle Corral, the President and Founder of Breath of the Spirit Ministries in conjunction with Dr. Kivumbi Earnest Benjamin, the President of Heal The Planet Global Organization.
It attracted religious leaders from Uganda and across East Africa, alongside international guests, focusing on faith, service and supporting vulnerable communities.
The VP thanked Dr. Michelle Corral for her commendable contribution towards the prosperity and development of Uganda, East Africa and Africa. “ She has ushered in great transformation in people’s lives through charity and uplift programmes,” Alupo said.
She further highlighted that Dr. Corral’s ministry in Uganda and other parts of Africa exemplifies Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan.
“Good neighborliness, as demonstrated in Jesus’ parable, transcends the narrow confines of tribe, religion, race, gender, class. It is all-embracing; it does not discriminate against anyone,” the vice president said.
She added that, it is on account of this universal appeal of Jesus’ teaching that Christianity has been able to grow and spread to every corner of the world.
Alupo reiterated the NRM’s ideological outlook of non-sectarianism stressing that our agenda for spurring Uganda to modernity and prosperity is built on the foundation of Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socio-economic transformation and Democracy.
“Within Uganda, we promote patriotism to consolidate unity and peaceful co-existence among our people. Outside Uganda, we advocate for East African and African cooperation and integration as a strategy for guaranteeing greater prosperity and security,” the vice president said.
During the conference, Dr. Michelle Corral shared teachings with the congregation, drawing lessons from the Book of Psalms. She also shared a message about using personal achievements to create opportunities for others.
“My success is not about me, but it’s about opening doors for others,” she said.
The conference brought together religious leaders from different countries, providing a platform for fellowship, teaching and discussions on ways faith communities can continue supporting people in need. Dr Corral said.
She commended Uganda for supporting refugees. Uganda hosts over two million refugees, the largest refugee population in Africa.
The conference concluded with a call for religious leaders to use their influence and resources to uplift vulnerable communities and create opportunities for those in need. Dr. Michelle Corral also prayed for members of the congregation, with several participants testifying to receiving healing. The conference ended with an emphasis on faith, service and the importance of opening doors for others.
Dr. Ernest Kivumbi Benjamin highlighted the impact of the ministry, noting that over the three times it has taken place, the initiative has changed people’s lives by providing essential support and necessities to people living in refugee camps.
Among the religious leaders present were Rev. Dr. Triumph from Nigeria, Bishop Joseph Morema from Kenya, Pastor Margaret from Mombasa, Bishop Oscar Elias from Tanzania, Bishop John Babu from Arua, Uganda, Bishop Thomson Byamugisha from Uganda, and Bishop Charles from Kenya, alongside other representatives from Mombasa and other areas.
