Parliament: Vice President Jessica Alupo has expressed profound sorrow and shock over the death of former Second Deputy Prime Minister, Gen. Moses Ali describing him as a dedicated nationalist whose service benefited all Ugandans.
Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali, died at the age of 87. He passed away on Saturday afternoon, July 18, 2026, while receiving treatment at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala, following a period of declining health.
Subsequently, Gen. Moses Ali was accorded an official burial by President Yoweri Museveni in honour of his unwavering service to the county.
During a parliamentary tribute session held for the late General, VP Alupo described him as a dedicated nationalist and freedom fighter.
“In his service as a politician, Gen. Moses Ali mentored many, including myself. He was a freedom fighter and such a humorous person, and you would not miss his message when he communicated,” she said.
Alupo who is also the woman MP for Katakwi district extended heartfelt condolences to President, Speaker of Parliament, Muslim community, the people of Adjuman and Uganda, at large upon the loss a galant son. She told Parliament chaired by Rt. Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth that Gen. Ali’s service to the country covered all spheres of life, including culture, politics, religion,education, and sports. She added that the late Gen. was also a farmer who demonstrated to Ugandans, especially the youths, that jobs are in Commercial Agriculture, industry, services, and ICT, and urged Ugandans to take maximum interest in the above sectors. Alupo emphasized that Moses Ali was such a disciplined military officer who knew what serving in the army meant. “He was time keeper and surely we shall surely miss him in Cabinet,” the vice president said.
The General also promoted the education of Muslim young girls across the country. “He was the voice of the young Muslim girls. He encouraged them to go to school and also complete the school cycle,” Alupo said. general. Moses will be laid to rest tomorrow at his ancestral home in Adjuman district.
