Uganda, Egypt Aquatic Weed Control Project gears momentum as specialised machines take charge to eliminate weed from Ugandan lakes

Efforts to eliminate Aquatic Weed from Lake Victoria and other lakes across the country has been intensified, we can confirm.

Aquatic Weed control trucks can been seen in total action nonstop these days at Port Bell. The rising water levels have given the uprooting machines an advantage of picking the weed thrown on the lake shores by water.

Wady El Nile Company is proud to lead the execution of Uganda Egypt Aquatic Weed Control on the Ugandan lakes which is a reflection of the cooperation, solidarity and deeply rooted friendship between both countries.

The chairman of Wady El Nile Company is Eng. Hany Dahy who was the former minister of Transport and he is currently the chairman of Egyptian Engineers Syndicate.

The company has a vast experience in similar engineering projects; the company was established in 1981 and is a market leader in Egypt which is now operating on a multinational level.

Engineer Yasser Mansour Managing Director of Wady El Nile Company Uganda told this website that the works are ongoing at Port Bell Luzira and other parts of the lake.
He said the increased water levels have been advantageous to them because it pushes weed closer to the lake shores.

“We are using equipment specially designed to control weed. Our excavator have long arms that reach longer in the lake,” Yasser said.

The aquatic weed control project started in 2000 for all lakes across the country and is ongoing.

This is the fifth extension of the project and it is running for one year.
