StarTimes, Tecno & MTN Uganda donate computers to secondary schools in Mukono

StarTimes Uganda and partners MTN Uganda and Tecno Mobile Uganda yesterday 5/11/2019  donated computers to five secondary schools in Mukono district.

The donation comes from proceeds of the second edition of Heroes in Color Run, a charity event organized by Tecno. The charity event is organized in collaboration with StarTimes and MTN Uganda to raise awareness about various problems. The best took place in September 2019 under the theme “Digitalizing the Future”.

The beneficiary schools that will each get desktops are Namilyango College, Kasawo Secondary School, Kasana Vocational School, Sir Apollo Kaggwa Senior Secondary School and St. Charles Lwanga Senior Secondary School. The donation is part of the partners’ efforts to contribute towards the introduction of ICT in schools.
“The world is to digital to leave our youngsters illiterate about digitalization. Almost everything nowadays is digitalized. Let us educate those around us the benefits of living a digital life and how best to embrace digitalizing the future,” Shiva Zhong, Managing Director Tecno Uganda.
The Minister of State for Education and Sports in charge of Sports Hon. Charles Bakabulindi presided over the handover of the desktops to the schools.
StarTimes PR manager, Cleopatra Koheirwe said they are committed at ensuring that digitalization takes a centre stage in Uganda especially among the young generation. “Being the providers of digital television services, we are proud to be part of this initiative and we will continue supporting such initiatives as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),” she added.
