Standard Chartered Bank holds Banking Academy workshop

As part of our on-going collaborative industry engagement initiative, the Financial Intelligence Authority and Standard Chartered Bank hosted 100 stakeholders at a Correspondent Banking Academy Workshop on Wednesday, 13th June 2018 at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala from 8am to 4pm.

The workshop aimed at equipping the participants on how to manage AML and Sanction risks and;

  • Updated them on emerging regulations on financial crime risks;
  • Equipped them to implement higher standards of risk management and
  • Raised their financial crime compliance standards

The workshop was Opened by the CEO, Standard Chartered Bank; Albert Saltson while the Keynote speech was delivered by the Executive Director, FIA; Sydney Asubo.

The Head, Compliance, Cecilia Muhwezi set the Scene and also articulated the Components of an effective AML Compliance program while the Head, FCC, E.A ; Mary Runana discussed Money Laundering and Sanctions as well as Anti- Bribery and Corruption before the Head FCC, Uganda Gibbs Muloni tackled Counter Terrorism Financing .

The workshop closed with a presentation from Yannick Cherel, Head FCC, Cash, Client Access discussing New payment Technologies and Associated Risks.
