One of South Africa’s finest pro golfers, Joshua Seale, has confirmed participation in the Tusker Malt Uganda Open Pro Tournament slated to begin on 31st August at the Kitante Golf Course in Kampala.
Currently World Number 1835 with a Best World Golf Ranking (BWGR) of 1536, the 26 year old Seale has been golfing since he was ten years of age and winning over 35 junior golf tournaments around the world.
Seale has been playing competitively and bettering his game across competitions like the Ras Al Khaimah Classic, Sunshine Tour, Mountain Creek Open and Maha Sumutr Masters.
When asked about his game, he attributes its upward spiral to his raw talent, diversity, keeping in shape, willingness to learn and closely watching South African greats like Zach Johnson, Will Mackenzie and Phil Michelson on television and in person.
Speaking to the President of the Uganda Golf Union, Johnson Omolo said; “Being able to have a talent like Seale at our Pros tournament is a great honor not only for the Union but also for all the players that he is going to be up against. He has had a wealth of exposure, played on numerous courses across the world, has a competitive spirit and is bound to bring out the best in the pros come 31st August to 3rdSeptember.”
This year, Tusker Malt Lager has staked out a prize award of UGX 110 million shillings for the professionals. Title sponsors, Tusker Malt Lager injected into this year’s tournament, UGX 500 million shillings, whereby UGX 230 million shillings was cash.
Speaking to Deo Akope, who has won the Tusker Malt Uganda Golf Open three times as an amateur and twice as a Pro, he said; “I must admit that the level of exposure that he has under his belt for someone so young is overwhelming and can be intimidating but we are all Pros and as long as I can maintain focus and concentration and apply the required bounce to my balls, I have nothing to worry about. In fact, I even have a home course advantage over him so expect a thrilling showdown”.
