It was massive as StarTimes Kampala Kids Run rocked Uganda Museum today and the surrounding areas of Kamwokya.

Thousands of kids thronged the place despite morning downpour which threatened the fun filled event where proceeds will help provide safe and clean water for the poor children in poor schools.

“As StarTimes, we are proud to be a part of this great cause of providing safe drinking water in rural primary schools. This is part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) and we will continue to participate and involve ourselves in such activities,” said Cleopatra Koheirwe, PR Manager StarTimes said.

Hon. Charles Bakabulindi, the Education State Minister in charge of Sports said he was honored to be a part of the 6th Edition of the StarTimes Kampala Kids Run, 2019.

This is an annual event whose aim and focus is to help the less privileged children in rural schools.

He said he was glad to learn that the Run aims at promoting the health and fitness of children while engaging them in fun activities and promoting their physical and psycho-socio being.
It enhances self-esteem, improves their social interactions and also boosts their talents.
The theme for this year is: “Safe drinking water in Primary Schools.” I have been informed that the proceeds from the Run will be used to procure water tanks so as to provide safe drinking water to primary schools in the country side.

“Indeed, we all yearn for a world which is conducive for the health of our children irrespective of whether they are in rural or urban areas. This is in relation to Sustainable Development Goal NO.6: “Safe and affordable drinking water for all by the year 2030”, and SDG NO.3 which is: “Ensuring healthy lives and promoting wellbeing for all at all levels,” he added.

The Minister congratulated the sponsors of the Kids Run, 2019 i.e. Kampala Kids Run who are the founders of this event, StarTimes, the Food Hub, Riham and Ruparelia Foundation for organizing this event.

“As Ministry of Education and Sports, we pledge our full support to this noble cause whose aim is to aid the Ministry in fulfilling its mandate. As I conclude, I encourage all parents to embrace StarTimes Kampala Kids Run and always ensure that they support their children to participate in the event whenever they are called upon.
