Nxt Radio celebrates 2nd Anniversary

Uganda’s first-ever audio visual radio station on Sunday celebrated two years of existence. The day was filled with tributes from presenters and fans alike on social media, celebrating Nxt Radio, which has, in its existence, also been ranked the country’s fastest-growing radio station.

Station General Manager, Marcus Kwikiriza, also a host of Morning Zoo – Nxt Radio’s breakfast show, led by example with a tweet saying, “2 years ago today, we started a journey to bring you something completely new. A visual radio. We can’t thank you enough for how you have embraced it. We are just getting started. The best is yet to come.”

Next Media Services CEO, Kin Kariisa, also shared on how proud he is of the achievements the radio has made.

“Two years ago, today, we launched Uganda’s first-ever audiovisual radio station. Now Uganda’s fastest-growing radio station, coming either #1 or 2 in its core parameters, “PROUD” does not even start to describe what I feel of the team,” Kariisa tweeted.

The launch of Nxt Radio in 2018 saw a mix of talent join the then-ambitious radio station. Media veterans such as Marcus Kwikiriza and Karitas Karisimbi were joined by media newbies such as Posha Aloyo, DJ Geeman, Smart Ayokyayokya, Ann-Marie, among others, to bring a whole new experience to Ugandan radio.

At their first anniversary, Nxt Radio hosted their ardent listeners to a party at Gabz Lounge. Due to COVID-19, that arrangement wouldn’t be possible this year, but news reaching our desk indicates that the radio station has now launched a revamped program line-up.
