NWSC steps up works to stabilize water supply along Entebbe Road

The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has started testing the newly completed Bwebajja Water Supply Project that was designed to boost water supply along Entebbe Road. The works involved;

  • Construction of a booster station in Nganjo,
  • Transmission and distribution pipe mains laying of 9.5kms,
  • Construction of a new 162,000 litre capacity water reservoir.

The Entebbe Principal Area Engineer Tonny Ojok shared that the system once completed will boost supply to Bwebajja, Mawanyi and Ddundu hills, Nganjo, Lutembe, Dewe, Jjanyi, Bulonde and Kitende B and the surrounding areas.

The area General Manager Mr Jackson Turyahurira assured customers that the area is committed to excellent service delivery and water for all.

The Corporation’s Managing Director Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha shared that the corporation is implementing a number of infrastructure service delivery plans to improve access to safe water in all areas of operation.

According to Dr. Silver, NWSC has completed upgrade works for the Nsamizi, Namulanda and Kitende booster stations which have greatly improved water supply in Kawuku and Kajjansi.

Other projects that have been completed include:

  • Upgrade of the booster station in Nsamizi- Entebbe to deliver more water to Kawuku and Kajjansi from the Entebbe network to cater for the growing demand for services.
  • Upgrade of Namulanda booster station to double the current volumes of water being lifted to Akright reservoir for distribution to consumers.
  • Installation of a new pump at Kitende booster station.

He added that the works have boosted water supply along Kasenyi road & Lyamutundwe, Kawuku-Wamala, Ziiru, Ssisa, Lutaba, Sekiwunga , Akright, Kabulamuliro, Bwebajja, Nganjo, Dewe, Kajjansi-Lumuli, Makandwa, Nakigalala, Kitovu, Mazzi, Bweya, Kitende, Kawoto and the surrounding areas.
