NWSC acts swiftly to restore water in Moroto
National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) staffs have acted swiftly to restore water supply line serving Moroto Prisons and the surrounding areas. The line had been damaged cutting off supply in the area. The supply was restored last evening putting a smile back to water users in the area.
“Damaged transmission line serving Moroto Prisons and the surrounding areas in Karamoja Region has been reinstated. We appreciate your patience and understanding,” NWSC posted.
Meanwhile in a bid to improve its service delivery, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has introduced a staff-performance monitoring programme in which employees will set their own targets.
NWSC managing director Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha says the programme, codenamed SKY, is aimed at helping the corporation achieve its target of providing clean safe water for all.
The corporation, which employs more than 3,000 staff in 178 urban centres across the country, wants to achieve the objective by 2020 as stipulated in its five-year strategic plan.
While unveiling the performance programme recently, Mugisha said the new approach will help NWSC accelerate geographical coverage, infrastructure development, water supply reliability, financial sustainability and customer care.
“As a service delivery organization which aspires to be the leading customer-centred utility, we can only fulfill this aspiration by working with and through our people,” he said.
He is optimistic that the attitude of NWSC staff towards work will improve. With more than 200 million euros invested in water production and physical network expansion projects since last year, NWSC has embarked on a nationwide programme to avail clean water to rural areas.
