NBS TV to produce 3rd e-Conference in a month with 2nd PSFU engagement on SME economy

Following successful first-ever productions of e-Conferences for a Ugandan TV station, which they did in partnership, first with PSFU and second with Reach a Hand Uganda, NBS Television will this Sunday, starting at 1pm, once again in partnership with PSFU, produce yet another one, this time themed, “Skilling small businesses after COVID -19”.

The conference, also set to once again be graced by H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, will this time focus on the “muntu wawansi” business person after COVID-19. Among others, special speakers will be tackling issues such as skilling Ugandans from an early age, critical skills required to start or rejuvenate businesses, the transformation of agriculture, supporting business ideas to incubation, innovation and product development, as well as the use of ICT to rejuvenate businesses.

With the economy in Uganda and the world over taking a tumble in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, loss of jobs, especially for young people and women, and the cancellation/ postponement of major events are among so many other far-reaching consequences on humanity and economies.

It is against this background that the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) in partnership with Next Media Services, are seeking to yet again facilitate a discussion focused majorly on practical measures they can employ to stay afloat after the COVID-19 pandemic.

On 3rd and 4th May, 2020, NBS TV’s Mildred Tuhaise moderated a 2- day engagement, the first of its kind, conducted online in line with the Ministry of Health guidelines regarding social distancing, hosting prominent heads from the private sector that included Dr. Elly Karuhanga, Professor Waiswa Balunywa, Barbra Mulwana, Amos Wekesa, Patrick Mwaheirwe, and Hon. Victoria Sekitoleko among others. Dr. Kin Kariisa, Chief Justice Bert Katurebe, and Hon. Amelia Kyambadde were some of the others that joined in.

Statistics indicate that there were over 1 million people who joined the two-day e-conference via Zoom, with over 15 million viewers watching live on NBS TV, and the topics discussed on the day still dominate the conversations about Uganda’s economy to-date.

NBS Television have also proved to be the go-to client for the seemingly highly-effective e-conference model, with them having already produced another one successfully for Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU) on family planning, where among others, the impact of COVID-19 on family planning access in Low Developed Countries and actionable recommendations were discussed.

Next Media’s surge to the top during this COVID-19 pandemic is further testament to how innovation and deliberate planning will continue to lift different businesses during and after this global pandemic. Kudos, team Kamwokya.
