National Water and Sewerage Corporation announces traffic diversion along Naalya-Namugongo Road

PLANNED EXCAVATION ACROSS AND TRAFFIC DIVERSION ALONG NAMUGONGO ROAD AND NAALYA-NAMUGONGO ROAD ON TUESDAY 5TH, WEDNESDAY 6TH AND THURSDAY 7TH NOVEMBER 2019

National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), on behalf of The Government of the Republic of Uganda (GoU), is currently constructing The Katosi-Kampala Drinking Water Transmission Mains to supply drinking water to the increasing population of the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.

NWSC has accordingly contracted Sogea Satom to implement the project which involves excavation and laying of water pipes across Namugongo Road at Kyaliwajjala Junction, from Tuesday 5th to Thursday 7th November 2019.

On these days, some sections of Kireka-Namugongo Road and Naalya-Namugongo Road shall be closed to traffic which shall be diverted to alternative routes. The excavation works shall be done in three phases to allow proper traffic management and minimize traffic disruptions.

Please note that:

•Normal time of work shall be at night and it will take 3 nights to install the pipes and fill the road to make it passable. Permanent reinstatement of the road pavement shall be completed within nine (9) working days after the works.

•During the actual excavation works across the road, traffic from Kireka to Namugongo and vice versa shall be diverted to Kisosonkole Road which feeds into Yakobo Road.

•Traffic from Kireka to Naalya and vice versa shall be diverted to Vienna Ring, above Vienna College and Lukade Road, which is below Vienna College.

•Traffic from Naalya to Kiira and vice versa shall be diverted to Kimbejja Road.
