The Ministry of Local Government’s District Inspection Department has today convened a pre-departure meeting, chaired by Mr. Stephen Idha Koma, Commissioner for District Inspection, to align field teams ahead of the National Compliance Inspection on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Teenage Pregnancy Prevention and Response (TPSRP), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and HIV in 39 selected Local Governments.

The meeting equipped the multi-sectoral inspection teams with a shared understanding of the inspection methodology, objectives, and reporting tools before deployment. The exercise marks the nationwide rollout of the newly validated Local Government Compliance and Performance Inspection Manual, following its successful pilot phase.

Over the next six days, teams drawn from the Ministry of Local Government, partner MDAs, and with support from United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will conduct field inspections across selected districts from Eastern, Central and Northern Regions to assess compliance and performance in the delivery of SRHR, TPSRP, GBV, and HIV-related services.

The findings will establish a national baseline to strengthen planning, budgeting, coordination, and accountability in Local Governments, while informing interventions to improve the delivery of SRHR, TPSRP, GBV, and HIV services.
