Mohombi teams up with Diamond and Franko for a collabo
Sweden based Congolese born singer Mohombi Moupondo has teamed with Tanzania’s Diamond Platinumz and Franko to release a mega hit titled ‘Rockonolo’. The song released a few weeks ago has already taken entertainment places by a storm. The video is taking Africa by storm and is a must watch.
The song is a massive hit from the trio and is surely a force to reckon with in the entertainment world.
Rockonolo RMX featuring Mohombi, Diamond Platnumz and Franko was officially released on the 17th of February and it premiered on MTV Base Africa on the same day. It is set to premiere on Trace TV East Africa officially soon. The song is currently topping up media channels across East Africa.

Who is Lumino?
Charles Bofossa AKA Lumino was born in Kinshasa/DRC as the 13th child of a family of 14 children. He lived half his life in his hometown of Kinshasa where his lifelong musical journey began. At the tender age of 10, his idol was Michael Jackson whom he credits for his love for dancing, performing at different events in Kinshasa that made him one of the best performers.
At 12, he met his second Idol R. Kelly whom he says has always been one of his biggest sources of inspiration. Since then, the passion for music has been incredibly growing and gave birth to his talent of production.
2004: he produced a Gospel album for Doggy Will, which was a success in Congo and he developed his vocal skills and formed a group called Magic nNizzo along with his friend Junior Nsakala and a talented singer called Jefferson
2005: Lumino (known as Carlstone in the time) moved to India to further his studies. This is where he produced for and featured an Indian Hip Hop artist by the name of Sankush Bhayana aka San B
2006: Lumino established himself well enough to perform as the headline artist on International Music Day in New Delhi. At this event he met a talented artist named Denis “Fliperachy” Modia, who was a skilled rapper. The two teamed up and made the mutual decision to come down to South Africa where they believed they would have a better opportunity of major success in the music industry.
2013: Lumino teamed up with Aleko to work on what he describes as his biggest project yet.
The auspicious duo has come fresh onto the music scene with their self- produced debut single, Make Me Move. The single debuted on UCTRadio where it was given a first time ever rating of 10/10. Internationally, their single debuted on the German station, You FM where it has the most plays on the dance music chart. Their music bursts with flavor as they create a fusion of Afro-pop and international dance themes. Their amazing live performance has seen them open for SA Hip Hop star Reason in Cape Town.
2015: Lumino signs to La Clique Music, “Mohombi’s label” and move back to Kinshasa to work on his solo project.
2016: His first single on his new label Rockonolo featuring Mohombi is released in June. The song becomes very quickly a hit in DRC and is also tied up with a promotional campaign of a telecom company during all summer ending with Lumino performing as a guest at the Afrifestival 2016 in front of 60.000 people.
Lumino attends the MAMAS 2016 with Mohombi. At the event they meet Diamond Platnumz and Franko and both artists love his music. The quartet decides to do a Remix version of Lumino’s Rockonolo single.
2017: Lumino becomes a member of #AfricaUnited, project initiated by his fellow Artist friend and mentor Mohombi. He is invited to perform alongside
Mohombi, Diamond and Franko at the African Nations Cup 2017 opening ceremony on January 14th in Gabon.
Rockonolo RMX featuring Mohombi, Diamond Platnumz and Franko will be released on the 17th of February and the video will premiere on MTV BASE AFRICA on the same day.

MOHOMBI FACT SHEET: 1986 to PRESENT
1986: Mohombi Moupondo born in Congo to a Congolese tribal king and a Swedish mother.
1998 – 2000: Mohombi and older brother Djo escape war-torn Congo. They were given npriority as children of their expatriate mother, to evacuate to the motherland of Sweden, where they would begin a new life as young, independent boys.
Mohombi studied at Rytmus Music High School in Stockholm and obtains a bachelor’s degree in music and song from Stockholm’s Music Conservatory.
2000-2008: Brother Djo and Mohombi set on yet another adventure and create the outfit, ‘Avalon’ (mixing hip-hop, dance hall and African beats), selling over 500.00 records and winning “Best Act-Diaspora Europe/Caribbean Category” at the All African Kora Awards (Grammy equivalent).
2008-2009: Mohombi develops his Songwriting and co- writes 3 top 5 songs of Asia’s biggest Boy band “Big Bang” including ‘Gara Go’ , their biggest hit so far (#1 in Korea and #2 in Japan)
2009-2010: Now well established vocalist, songwriter and dancer, Mohombi ventures to L.A, and meets heavyweight producer RedOne (Lady Gaga, Usher, JLo) and is the producer’s first signing to his label, 2101 records.
2010: Huge hits and collaborations are successively released, including ‘Bumpy Ride’, “Miss Me” featuring
Nelly (UK debut), “Dirty Situation” featuring Akon, all lifted from debut album ‘MoveMeant’. Mohombi establishes himself as a dynamic live performer on his explosive, regular European tours.
2011: Another great year with multi-platinum singles “Coconut Tree” featuring Pussy Cat Dolls star, Nicole Scherzinger,and “Suave (Kiss Me)” with chart-buster Pitbull and Nayer.
MoveMeant sales gold in several countries, Bumpy ride and Coconut tree sales gold and Platinum in several countries including Canada, Sweden, Denmark and Double Platinum in Sweden.
2012: La Clique Music (Int UK), Mohombi’s own record label/ publishing/event company is established. From here on wards, Mohombi releases his music through La Clique Music.
2014: “Movin”, The infectious dance floor up beat featuring Birdman & Caskey is the products of a great collaboration with Cash Money Records. Album UNIVERSE released (aug) in Asia and hits #1 and stays there for several weeks.
2015: The single “UNIVERSE” made it to TOP 10 on the U.S Billboard. Selected as head of jury for the #1 African Televised talent show Best of the Best.
Featured and co-wrote on Shaggy’s global hit song “( Habibi ) I Need Your Love” (One of the biggest songs of 2015 globally) Produced, co-wrote and appeared on Pitbull’s single “Baddest Girl in Town” that premiered with a their performance on the Latin Awards “Premios Juventud”. The song is currently topping the latin charts.
2016: U.S Grammy Awards Winner (Best Latin Album) for his work on Pitbull’s latest album DALE!
Mohombi wins a BMI award for his work on “I Need Your Love” with Shaggy.
Release of the new single “Infinity” for which he partners up with Pitbull’s label Mr 305 and Capitol Records.
2017: U.S Grammy Awards Winner Mohombi, starts and artist platform #AfricaUnited, with the goal to build bridges between African artists in form of collaboration and mutual support. #AfricaUnited is best described as a Bridge to promote african music throughout the world !
Mohombi together with Diamond Platnumz, Franko, Lumino performed at the African Nations Cup 2017 opening ceremony as #AfricaUnited making it possible for millions of viewers to see the beginning of the synergy that has started.
