Miss Tourism Uganda: Ankole Region Crowns Three Queens For National Contest
The search for this year’s Miss Tourism Uganda started off months ago in different regions. Over the weekend, Miss Tourism Uganda was in the Western region through a pageantry event that saw three queens crowned to represent them at the national level in September this year.
The Miss Tourism search events have taken place in seven regions, and over the weekend, they were in the Bushenyi district, held at the Western Meridian Hotel.
A lot of university students have graced this year’s search. The winners will represent their respective regions at the Miss Tourism grand finale on September 14th, 2024, at Kampala Serena Hotel.
The pageantry saw Birungi Shanne, 19 years of age, crowned as the queen, with her first runner-up being Abigail Abaho and the second runner-up being Banny Shadia.
The new queen and her assistants will represent their region at the National Miss Tourism contest on September 14th this year at Kampala Serena Hotel.
Conservationists and environmentalists who attended the event have presented a proposal about the need to drive a campaign to protect the decreasing glaciers in Western Uganda.
Uganda has been severely ravaged by climate change, and the worry is that in a few decades if nothing is done, the situation will worsen. The new queen and her team will, therefore, take it upon themselves to rally the community towards finding solutions to this scourge. This year’s theme is “Tourism and Peace.”
Miss Tourism Uganda is already in eight different regions and will be heading to Rwenzori this week on the 26th of July.
