The State Minister for Refugees, Relief and Disaster Preparedness, Hon. Lillian Aber, has today held a meeting with Bouwe-Jan Smeding, the Deputy Head of Mission and Head of Cooperation of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kampala. The two discussed the Netherlands’ continued support to Uganda’s refugee response.

Hon. Aber expressed Uganda’s sincere appreciation for their strong partnership, particularly through the PROSPECTS programme and their commitment to Localization. The Netherlands has fulfilled over USD 66 million towards her Global Refugee Forum pledge and continues to champion the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus.

Their support in education, economic inclusion, social protection, infrastructure, and access to justice is making a tangible impact on refugees and host communities.

“We also discussed the current funding challenges facing the CRRF Secretariat, whose coordination role remains critical to delivering on our commitments. Sustained support will be essential to ensure continued effective implementation. Uganda remains grateful for this valued partnership,” Hon. Lillian Aber said.
