KW-LVWATSAN Water Supply Network Project (Package 2B) Registers Steady Progress

Kampala: The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) continues to make significant strides in the implementation of the KW-LVWATSAN Water Supply Network Project (Package 2B).

Once completed, this project will improve water supply in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area (GKMA).

The Senior Director of Planning, Performance and Capital Development (SD, P&CD), Eng. Paddy Twesigye, led the P2B Project Team, which included the Project Manager, Eng. Herbert Mujuni, during site inspections and the 16th Progress Meeting.

Key Updates from the Site:
Pipeline Works: 11 kilometres out of the planned 68.5 km of pipes have been successfully laid. Construction teams are maintaining good momentum, with four active teams currently working along the Kira-Kasangati, Lugoba-Nansana, and Kabulengwa-Wakiso pipe routes.

Kabulengwa Booster Station: The roof slab has been cast and is currently undergoing curing.

Kanyanya Reservoir Site: Works are progressing with the laying of drainage pipes, construction of inlet valve chambers, and steel works for the ground beams.
This package forms a critical part of NWSC’s efforts to expand and improve reliable water supply to communities in Wakiso and surrounding areas.

The project is expected to deliver enhanced water access and better service delivery upon completion.

“Whereas the entire project is scheduled for completion in July 2027, efforts are being made to ensure that some customers in Buwate, Kasangati, Gayaza and surrounding areas start receiving water as early as January 2027, since the pipeline serving those areas is being expedited,” said Eng. Herbert Mujuni, Senior Manager of Infrastructure Planning and Development, who is also the Project Manager.

The Government of Uganda, through the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), is rehabilitating, restructuring, rezoning, and extending the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area Water Supply Network to deliver clean, safe water for all.
