Kampala: From transforming Uganda’s media landscape to building one of East Africa’s most influential multimedia companies, Kin Kariisa is increasingly being recognized by many young Africans as a symbol of modern entrepreneurial leadership.
The Next Media Group CEO has spent the last several years building a media empire that now includes leading brands such as NBS TV, Sanyuka TV, Salam TV, Next Radio, Nile Post, and NBS Sport, among others.

What began as the growth of a single television station has evolved into a diversified multimedia company with more than 22 brands operating across television, radio, digital platforms, sports broadcasting, and content production.

Under Kariisa’s leadership, Next Media has become known for embracing digital transformation, innovation, and youth-centered programming at a time when Africa’s media industry continues to rapidly evolve.
His rise within the corporate world is now inspiring many young entrepreneurs who see his leadership journey as proof that African-owned businesses can grow into impactful institutions capable of competing on a global stage.

One of those who openly admires Kariisa’s leadership is young entrepreneur and media enthusiast Nyanzi Martin Luther, who says the Next Media boss represents a new generation of African CEOs focused on long-term transformation.

“Kin Kariisa’s journey inspires many young people because he has shown that leadership is about building people, institutions, and opportunities,” Nyanzi said. “He has created platforms that empower young talent and encourage innovation.”
According to Nyanzi, Kariisa’s influence goes beyond financial success because of his continued investment in youth development and creative industry growth.
Through initiatives such as Next Creata, Next Media has helped support young creatives, digital storytellers, and content producers by giving them access to mentorship, visibility, and career opportunities within the media industry.
“Many young Africans are now looking at leaders who create opportunities and invest in the future,” Nyanzi added. “That is why Kin Kariisa continues to stand out among Africa’s business leaders.”

Beyond broadcasting, Kariisa has also built a strong profile in corporate governance and strategic leadership.
He currently serves as Chairman of the National Association of Broadcasters and has previously served on the board of Ecobank Uganda. He recently joined the board of Standard Chartered Uganda, further strengthening his presence within the corporate sector.
A Harvard-trained strategist and Stanford Seed alumnus, Kariisa is increasingly viewed as part of a growing class of African executives using innovation, technology, and institution building to drive economic and social transformation.
As youth entrepreneurship continues to rise across Africa, many young professionals say leaders like Kin Kariisa are helping reshape perceptions about African business leadership and inspiring the next generation to think beyond limitations.
