Kampala Color Fun Run joins the ‘One Million Books To One Million Kids’ movement

The Kampala Color Fun Run has partnered with Exquisite Events in a bid to push for early childhood literacy in Uganda, through elevating the cause that is One Million Books to One Million Kids.

The movement is a countrywide appeal to avail relevant, fun, and educational material to children all over Uganda, especially in rural areas, so as to uplift the Ugandan early childhood development levels.

“The Color Fun Run and Exquisite Events decided to join this transformative movement by using the Run proceeds to buy books and build libraries for the Kaleke Kasome Foundation in Mpigi,” said Eric Omondi, the Manager of Kampala Color Fun Run.

“We chose to support Kaleke Kasome Foundation because they are a frontrunner in promoting Early Childhood literacy, and are building strong community relationships with the children of Mpigi,” Lee Taylor, the Executive Director of Exquisite Events, said.

“We intend to maintain a long-term friendship with the children and community members of Mpigi, and have previously conducted reading sessions with the children, teachers, and parents at the foundation,” he added.

The Color Fun Run will take place at Kyadondo Rugby club, where color runners will commence the 5km run at 11am. Color will be splashed on the runners at every km, and they will be welcomed back by prizes and the biggest rave in Kampala this year; the Color Festival.

The Color Festival will engage the runners and revellers in fun games like Kwepena, adult bouncy castles, touch rugby, color volleyball, castle slides; all the while, there will be nonstop EDM and Afro-beats from carefully selected DJs, all day.
