The Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Hon. Sanjay Tanna, has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the King of Tooro, who died on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the age of 34.
In his message of condolence, Hon. Tanna mourned the loss of a young and distinguished cultural leader whose life and reign made a lasting contribution to the people of Tooro and Uganda.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV. His Majesty was a symbol of our rich cultural heritage, a unifying figure and a leader whose contribution to the development and preservation of our cultural values will remain deeply remembered.

King Oyo ascended the Tooro throne in 1995 at just three years old, becoming the world’s youngest reigning monarch, and went on to reign for nearly 31 years. His death has been described as a profound loss to the Royal Family, Tooro and Uganda.
