There was jubilation, joy and renewed hope across Kiryandongo District when Hon. Katusiime Jovia Mbabazi was declared winner of Kiryandongo District Woman MP seat earlier this year. Her win marked the beginning of her chapter of leadership built on service, resilience, and grassroots connection. It is ressurected hope for development among the people of Kiryandongo District.
Supporters gathered in celebration after the swearing-in ceremony in May, praising the legislator for what they described as visible leadership, accessibility, and commitment to the ordinary people of Kiryandongo District.
In her first remarks after taking oath, Hon. Jovia thanked voters for their trust in her leadership.
“With deep gratitude and humility, I thank the people of Kiryandongo District for entrusting me with the responsibility to serve as your Woman Member of Parliament. This first mandate is not about promises alone. It is about action, service, and putting the people of Kiryandongo District first,” she said.
She noted that her first term came with lessons and challenges that shaped her leadership style and strengthened her determination to deliver meaningful change.
Hon. Katusiime has earmarked key priorities this term which she says are affecting livelihoods and these are education, health services, and economic empowerment in Kiryandongo District.
As an elected Member of Parliament, Hon. Katusiime represents the interests of women and the wider community in Kiryandongo, participates in the legislative process, contributes to parliamentary oversight, and advocates for policies aimed at improving the welfare and development of her district.
Since the start of this new term, Hon. Katusiime Jovia Mbabazi has been present figure on the ground supporting her people in the different activities. She is engineering a service oriented leadership and the people of Kiryandongo District are truly blessed to have a representative in the 12th Parliament.
By the end of this five-year term, Hon. Katusiime Jovia Mbabazi will be among the best performing MPs. She is currently set to engage Government and Stakeholders to have lightening rods installed in all institutions like schools, hospitals, churches, mosques and other public places of interest to prevent lightening strikes which have become rampant in the district.
