The Government of Uganda has inaugurated a task force that is going to implement competence based education in Education institutions of Uganda.
Competency-Based Education (CBE) is an instructional approach where students advance based on their demonstrated mastery of specific skills and knowledge rather than the time spent in a classroom.
It focuses on real-world application, allowing learners to progress at their own pace and receive personalized feedback.
This is the sixth year since competence based education was launched, however many education institutions had not implemented it.
In transforming learning globally Uganda is among Nine African countries working with the World Health Organization to implement competency-based health curricula.
The Launch was presided over by the permanent secretary Ministry of Education and sports (Represented) under the theme “ Re-Imaging Higher Education through competence,innovation,collaboration and experience”.
The taskforce comprises officials from Universities, Ministry of Education and sports officials, associations of small scale industries, and the private sector foundation.
