The government has declared tomorrow Friday a public holiday as Muslims break a 30 day fast. It is therefore IDD Mubarak tomorrow as Muslims end their Holy month of Ramathan.
Official Letter from the Government
According to the official statement, the 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Service, Henry Kajura has issued, the holiday must be observed across the country in order to give the Muslim community enjoy their activities.Muslims end their fasting this Friday
“The Rt. Hon. 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Service, informs the general public that Friday July 17, is Idd el fitir and will be observed as a public holiday throughout Uganda.” reads the statement signed by Jane Mwesiga on behalf of Permanent secretary.
Muslims across the world started fasting on June 17 and tomorrow will be exactly a month. In Uganda, main prayers will be held at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council at Old Kampala and in all Mosques across the country.
“Dear Muslim brothers and sisters. Thank you for successfully completing the holy month of Ramadhan. I pray that Allah accepts our fast and dua. IDD Mubarak,” Aisha Alibhai
