The Minister for ICT, Communications and National Guidance Hon. Frank Tumwebaze has urged his fellow ministers to make use of social media. While addressing Leadership Retreat at Kyankwazi today, Tumwebaze encouraged Ministers to join and make use of social media platforms to engage with the public.
He applauded Prime Minister Rt Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda for actively using social media. He appealed to ministers not to leave the communication of policy issues to junior officers.
“Communication is only effective if the target is reached, medium is effective and there’s feedback. The way the story is told and who is saying it matters. We should define who is saying what,” Frank said.
The Minister also urged permanent secretaries to share and engage more with the public given their wealth of information. “Leaders of MDAs should change their attitude towards communication,” he added.
Tumwebaze thanked Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda and NRM Secretary General (SG) Justine Lumumba for allowing him to speak at the retreat on the dynamics of effective communication and e-government as an all-round-enabler of government and society at large.
