Five in a Row for Crested Capital!

Crested Capital scooped the top Financial Reporting (FiRe)award for the fifth time in a row under the “Brokerage Organizationscategory for Outstanding Achievement in Financial Reporting at the 10th Edition of Financial Reporting Awards (FiRe Awards) hosted virtually by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) on 4 November 2020. The FiRe Awards is a highly anticipated and prestigious annual event whose aim is to promote best practices  in financial reporting in Uganda. The main sponsors of the FiReawards are ICPAU, the Capital Markets Authority, the Uganda Securities Exchange, and media sponsors New Vision.

he theme this year was; “10 Years of Enhanced Financial Reporting: Gliding with excellence into the Future”.

The President of the Institute of CPA Uganda (ICPAU), Mr. Frederick Kibbedi (CPA),  commended the participating companies for demonstrating a strong organizational culture despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, to which he remarked, “there has been a continuous improvement in the quality of reporting in tandem with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) for those who have consistently participated in the FiRe Awards.” He congratulated all the winners and hoped that they all maintain a high standard of integrated reporting.

Crested Capital’s Chair, Dr. Thelma Awori, said this about the award, “This fifth FiRe Award is an amazing testimony to Crested’s commitment to accountability to not only our regulators, but ALL our stakeholders including thousands of clients, staff, Board, and shareholders.  Public release of the full audited annual financial statements should be a mandatory requirement for all Capital Market licensees in Uganda who have access to,custody of, or manage client investments, securities, or other financial assets.”

The CEO of Crested Capital Robert Baldwin thanked the FiReAwards sponsors and said, “next year’s event should include categories for other CMA licensees such as Investment Advisor, Fund Manager, and Unit Trusts.  and hoped that one day, a serious competitor would emerge that could vie for the Crown.”Ndagire Melissa Leah, the Project Manager and Editor of the Annual Report said, “This report was put together in such a short time due to the current pandemic, however the team did an awesome job in contributing to the completion of this masterpiece.”
