Crested Capital smoked the competition, scooping a fourth award as winner in the category of “Brokerage Organisations” for Outstanding Achievement in Financial Reporting, at the 9th Edition of Financial Reporting Awards (FiRe Awards) hosted by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) on 7th November, 2019 at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
The FiRe Awards is an annual event whose aim is to promote best practices in financial reporting in Uganda.
The theme for this year’s FiRe Awards was; “Redefining Organisational Success ” and Crested Capital won an award for the fourth time since the creation of the Stockbroker Category in 2015.
The President of the Institute of CPA Uganda (ICPAU), CPA Fredrick Kibbedi, announced that they received a total of 106 entries this year. In his published remarks Mr. Kibbedi further noted, “the committee received 46 new entries compared to 36 last year. We note that a number of entities skip subsequent years after their first participation. We encourage such organisations to always stay in touch as a way of learning better ways on how to implement the evaluator’s feedback which is shared with each participating organisation”.
The chairperson of the FiRe Awards Committee CPA Stephen Ineget noted that “there has been tremendous improvement in the quality of financial and business reporting… connected this with the feedback given to all FiRe award entrants as well as their efforts to see a change in the way financial reporting is done”.
Robert Baldwin, Crested Capital’s Chief Executive Officer said, “This year’s awards were highly competitive! I am especially pleased that Crested’s annual report was recognized as the winner out of 5 entries in the stockbroker category. Investors in Uganda’s capital markets benefit from greater transparency and accountability among market participants and I encourage all CMA licensees such as investment advisors, stockbrokers, and fund managers to enter next year’s the FiRe awards.
