Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa tells SACCO members to save & focus on the long-term objective of building a SACCO that can benefit others
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt.Hon. Thomas Tayebwa presided over the launch of a SACCO for garage workers in Mbarara City South yesterday. He was joined by several other MPs in Mbarara City South with Hon. Mwine Mpaka as the host. The aim of the SACCO is to empower them economically. The Deputy Speaker thanked His Excellency Kaguta Museveni for the big support extended to this SACCO.
He encouraged them to save and focus on the long-term objective of building a SACCO that can benefit others. I told them that this will require significant sacrifice. Rather than sharing profits, they should reinvest them to help the SACCO grow. With strong leadership and a reputable growth trajectory, such a group could eventually attract more supporters.
He was also happy to see that this group has agreed to join NRM party and support H.E Kaguta Museveni come 2026 adding that their decision to join NRM will strengthen the party’s fortunes in the city.
“I am grateful to Hon. Mpaka for organizing these workers and helping them establish the SACCO. Both inside and outside of Parliament, he has proven to be an exemplary leader—fulfilling his duties in Parliament while steadfastly supporting his constituents,” Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa said.
