COVID-19 Menace: Uganda registers 23 new cases

The Ministry of Health has confirmed 23 new cases of the deadly COVID-19. Samples tested on 23rd May, 2020 confirmed 23 new COVID-19 cases taking the country’s total to 198.

19 new cases are truck drivers who arrived via Elegu and Busia while 4 cases are contacts to previously confirmed truck drivers.

All contacts were under quarantine at the time of test

A total of 38 positive foreign truck drivers handed over to their countries of origin.

Samples from Points of Entry tested today: 851

Samples from community and contacts: 336

Total samples tested today: 1,187
