After the gruesome incident at industrial area based nightspot Guvnor in which partier was killed by a fellow partier, Uganda Police has taken over the case. Management of Guvnor have confirmed to us that they have forwarded the case details to police for the law to take its course. Ivan Kalyesubula hit Johnson Ahimbisibwe with a glass and the later was pronounced dead on arrival at Case Clinic for medical attention.

With deep sorrow, GUVNOR UGANDA regrets the death of its patron Johnnie Ahimbisibwe. Always smiling, laughing, smart and affable is how we shall always remember Johnny who spent many weekends with us having a good time.

What happened to him is tragic, and we have handed the case over to Uganda Police for the law to take its course. We are assisting the Police in every possible way, including CCTV footage of the incident.

GUVNOR UGANDA is renowned for its attention to security matters, and many a times, we’re rebuked for being ‘too strict’. It’s all for the security of our esteemed clients, that we do everything humanly possible to keep them safe on site.

At this time, we would like the public to give the family of Johnny some peace to grieve their son, and to let the Police do its work unhindered, so as to get to the bottom of this tragic incident. It’s important that facts are not muddled with rumors and insinuations because the result of that will be a messy Police investigation.

As the country woke up to the shocking news of brutal killing of a reveller at the Industrial area based posh hangout, Guvnor Nightspot, with a glass, how safe are we in such places. Johnson Ahimbisibwe was hit with a glass and was pronounced dead on arrival at Case Clinic hospital today morning.

Ivan Kalyesubula a muscled man hit Johnson with a glass after an argument over the girl, Nina, the two have dated. Johnson was a boyfriend of Ivan’s current lover Nina and the incident marks the end of fruitful life or lives the three have been living. Details of how the argument started are still sketchy but it all stemmed from this beautiful woman called Nina who also in the Club at the time of the incident.

The safety of one’s life is a club or bar is not by a mere bouncer as many think but it’s you to provide yourself security and here is how; take extra measures and be careful of people you interact with. If you see your enemy within relocate to another place, don’t confront because at that time, people are always under the influence of alcohol so their brains are already intoxicated. If your ex is around and has another man pretend as if you don’t know about her and don’t confront her man because the two of you moved on…

Bloodshed In Posh Guvnor As Reveller Kills Another Over A Woman

Kampala’s posh nightclub, Guvnor was not a secure place last night after unfortunate incident in which a reveller killed a rival reveller happened there.

Ivan Kalyesubula hit Ahimbisibwe Johnson with a glass at Guvnor 40+ and the later was pronounced dead on arrival at Case Clinic due to suspected over breeding. Info reaching our desk has it that Ivan is dating Johnson’s ex girlfriend and this could have been the reason that led the two to start an argument which resulted into a bloody incident. Guvnor Uganda with deep sorrow announces the death of our esteemed client Johnnie Ahimbisibwe.
This morning at Guvnor 40+ a very unfortunate incident occurred when Ivan Kalyesubula aka Ivan Diesel “Iyvo” hit Johnnie Ahimbisibwe aka Johnnie Danzel Jarmainewith a glass. The deceased was badly hurt and was rushed to the hospital by the club management. On the way to hospital the deceased was responsive to questions asked by one of our managers; Bobman. On arrival at Case Medical Center, he was examined by Dr.Masika and despite resuscitation was pronounced dead. Ivan Kalyesubula who is currently dating Johnnie’s ex girlfriend was immediately apprehended by the club security team and handed over to Jinja Road police station where he has been detained. Guvnor night club strongly condemns such acts of violence and will pursue justice to it’s final end. We at Guvnor are truly saddened by this sudden loss as Johnie was one of our regular and loved clients.
RIP Johnnie. May God comfort and strengthen family, friends and loved ones.

Vodafone CEO’s Q & A for Vodafone Power Talks

Vodafone premiere forum held in April 2015, brought together a cross section of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) who were eager to learn and share experiences on how to leverage the power of internet to grow their businesses. The feedback received was that it was an empowering session and a number of business were keen on how they could individually take their businesses to the next level through ICT.

Vodafone held its second event on 30^th July 2015 at the Kampala Serena hotel and this time it had an interesting mix of speakers who tackled some ICT initiatives / best practices to improve agricultural value chains and agribusinesses. This forum presents a unique opportunity for farmers and or anyone involved or interested in agribusiness to interact and network with peers in the sector.

Why did you choose to focus on ICT in Agriculture for this particular forum?

Agriculture remains a key driver of Uganda’s economy and yet there are numerous challenges that could be addressed through solutions ranging from ICT for production systems management, ICT for market access services, and ICT for financial inclusion. In Uganda, one major challenge is access to reliable and timely information. Globally, because of the ever-lower costs and growing ubiquity of ICT, such as mobile phones and the networks needed to connect them, new avenues have been opened up, offering critical information to farmers, fishers, small traders and business people. This is something that is picking up, perhaps at slower pace, in Uganda. We hope that this forum will be the start of the empowerment journey for agricultural entrepreneurs to enhance production, improve efficiency and profitability for their farms through technology.

Some of the speakers are farmers who have successfully used ICTs on their farms with good results. They will share their experiences of what has worked for them and what has not worked which will be useful for anyone intending to venture into farming or is already into farming but is struggling to integrate technology in farm operations.

What opportunities do you see for integrating ICT in agriculture to improve agricultural production?

Over the past decade, Uganda has witnessed rapid expansion in telecommunication infrastructure and mobile technology which has enhanced the access, affordability, and adaptability of ICTs for development. While ICT is not a panacea that will solve all the issues related to the agriculture value chain development, it is important to exploit the value it offers in providing a better service.

When we talk ICT in agriculture, opportunities generally include applications for production systems management with a focus on improving data collection, processing and reporting through simple and affordable means that help farmers to make decisions that will improve (or protect) their incomes in both the short and long term. The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) estimates that there are 19.5 million mobile phone subscribers in the country making it is easier to share and receive information today than it was in the past. As a result a number of innovations have come up that can help farmers to obtain markets for their goods, prices, and provide timely weather information via the mobile phones.

Improving market access is another area. It is becoming imperative that farmers can access information on pricing and availability of markets with ease. Whether it is through a short message sending service or creation of virtual market platforms where buyers and sellers connect over an electronic network, the efficiency of such initiatives cannot be over stated. From the development of Apps to track health of animals, to simple platforms for payment services the opportunities are immense.

With about 80% of Uganda’s the total population directly employed in agriculture, integration of technology to improve agricultural production would contribute greatly not only to Uganda’s economic growth but it will also improve the livelihood of millions of Ugandans involved in agriculture. We believe ICT can potentially create an agricultural revolution in this country.

What are your last words on Vodafone Power Talks?

Vodafone Uganda initiated the Power Talks as a means to create a more ICT literate Uganda by proactively engaging & challenging cross sections of SME’s on the transformative power of technology. The second edition on 30th July 2015 is open to the public and we look forward to having you join us as we interact and share experiences on how to use ICT to improve farm production.

President Museveni To Open The 11th African Union Of Architects Congress

The 11th Africa Union of Architects (AUA) Congress will be happening from 3rd to 7th August 2015 at the Speke Resort Hotel, Munyonyo Kampala.

The AUA is a body that unites Architects from all over Africa under their national membership associations. The union was founded in 1981 in Lagos Nigeria, with Architect William Henry Ssentoogo from Uganda, as it’s first President.President Yoweri Museveni

It is a Non Governmental Organisation with the main aim of spearheading the recognition of the architecture profession on the continent as well as African interests at the International Union of Architects.

This year’s congress will be held under the theme Our Architecture, Our Communities, Our Heritage and it will seek to explore and emphasize the importance of African heritage in Architectural design and how Architects play a pivotal role in ensuring this linkage.

Speakers will present papers that investigate the ideologies Africans have lived by for centuries and how they can be applied in Architecture to ensure continuation of the spirit of the African community.

In addition the Congress will seek to find African solutions to urbanisation and how problems related with urbanisation can be tackled.

In the Urban Thinkers Campus workshops organised in partnership with the World Urban Campaign (WUC), stakeholders will debate and come up with ideas that are expected to influence the next United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, Habitat III, to take place in Ecuador in 2016.

Happening every 3 years, this congress was last held in Luanda, Angola where Chief Omissore Tokunbo was elected President. He will be handing over to a new President to be elected at the climax of this gathering in a General Assembly that will be held on 7th August 2015.

The guest of honor will be HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda.

NSSF Awards Shs80m To Five Community Projects

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF)on Monday recognized and awarded individuals with the best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects during the NSSF Torch Awards 2015 which is one of the Fund’s flagship CSR initiatives. M7 Commissions Mbale-Soroti Road As UNRA Boss Commends Dott Services Limited Work

President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday commissioned Mbale-Soroti Road at Kumi town. The president urged residents in the area to make good use of the road by getting involved in agricultural activities. He said that the road will make it easy for the transportation of their farm produce to the markets.President Museveni prepares to commission Mbale-Soroti Road on Sunday “This road was constructed using Ugandan government money 100%, don’t bring your mattresses and sleep on it but have income generating activities like piggeries, chicken, coffee plantations, goats, cows, eggs to mention but a few to be able to make good use of the road. We did this road when there were fights of government workers wanting salary increment but we said let us first have infrastructure sorted then we can think of salary increments”, the president said.” In 1996, the government allocated Shs300 bn for the roads and but as of now it is Shs3000bn. That is why we are able to make such roads,” he added. [adrotate banner=”3″] The road was constructed by Dott Services Limited at a cost of Shs 106 bn. They still have 10 months to fully complete the road. “This road was done with the highest quality. There was some delay due to the road design and these were not of Dott Services Limited making. It is a good road and we still have 10 months to finish it up completely for example doing road marks, working on shoulders and putting road signs,” Maheswara Reddy, Dott Services Managing Director said. Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) Executive Director, Allen Kagina commended Dott Services Limited for the good work done. “They have done good job, they have the capacity to perform, there are a few things to finish and they still have 10 months to full complete the road and we are sure they will do. The work is surely commendable,” Kagina said. She added that the road cost Shs 106bn and that as Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), they must make sure that such roads have a life span of 15 years or more. UNRA’s job is to make sure that road signs are respected and speed limit maintained. She appealed Ugandans to protect the road; it is a national asset and when you see an overloaded truck, call our hotline 0312233111 and report. Kagina said 4 new permanent weigh bridges as well as mobile ones are to be established across the country to curb the problem of over loading.

British Airways Quits Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport

Oh No!!!! Not good news for Ugandans who want to fly in and out of Britain. Britain’s commercial line, British Airways announced yesterday that it is quitting Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport with effect from 3rd October this year. A source says all flights to and from Uganda will be stopped as they are “no longer commercially viable”.

The last flight out from Entebbe airport to London’s Heathrow will depart on 3rd October 2015, the UK carrier said.

British Airways operates four flights a week to Entebbe.

However, their rates are not as competitive as the ones offered by other airlines.

It offers the luxury of direct flights from Uganda to the UK, but some Ugandan travellers prefer to use airlines going via the Middle East, despite the longer journey time, he says.British Airways

In a statement, British Airways said it was “sorry for any disruption” to travellers who had already booked their flights.

Entebbe is Uganda’s busiest and only international airport.

Every week, at least 49 domestic flights and 490 international flights depart from there, according to the travel website Tripadvisor.
